Reduce energy bills with Victorian Energy Compare

{Post brought to you in Conjunction with Victorian Energy Compare}

Would you believe that most Victorians are paying too much when it comes to their energy bills?

According to government data, most of us find it all too hard to shop around when it comes to finding the best energy providers even though we might be throwing money down the drain. Now I must admit that while I am pretty darn good at shopping, our household has fallen in to the estimated one in three that has never shopped around and switched electricity or gas providers since moving in to our current abode (8 years ago mind you!).

If, like me, the concept of comparing energy providers seems way too hard for you, the great news is that the helpful folks at the Victorian Government have launched Victorian Energy Compare to help us save some coin. This is a fantastic, quick and easy to use online comparison tool that allows Victorian's the opportunity to compare electricity, gas and even solar offers in the marketplace in one go!

The government estimates that more than half of us that try the Victorian Energy Compare tool, will find that they can potentially save more than $700 a year or more across electricity and gas by switching energy providers or moving to a better suited plan with their current provider. $700?! That is a HUGE sum of money that I would prefer to see sitting in my bank account... or invested in my wardrobe!

When using the tool to look at what we could be saving, I found that by switching to a different local provider we too could be saving ourselves a pretty penny or two!

The tool makes it a cinch to compare quickly and easily (in those 5 minutes between nap times). I had our most recent electricity and gas bill handy when I was going through the exercise which is broken up in to the following steps/areas:

Your Energy Profile

The first part of the tool asks you a series of questions on your household (number of people, rooms etc), to help build your energy profile.

Consumption

The next part assesses your consumption based on a few details taken from your most recent bill.

Offers

The next part shows you the available offers for your area sorted and ranked by price. You can then click on individual offers to get all of the fine print on the contract, charges, conditions, any other applicable fees. You also have the option to contact the retailer direct or simply print off the details and get on to it later (when it is bed time perhaps!)

Results

The final part of the tool allows you to compare any results that you may be interested in, side by side to ensure you are comparing apples with apples!

My Verdict?

Instead of being complacent with our energy providers each year, I am going to diarise a date and get in to the habit of using the tool on an annual basis. This will give me the opportunity to regularly check and ensure our providers are giving us the best deal out there, like I do when it comes time to renewing our car or house insurance each year. It really was so simple and well worth the exercise.

Now that I have worked out just how much we are going to be saving (yay!), it might just be time for a spot of online shopping....

SRC Essentials Summer Range and Reader Offer

If you struggle to find cute and stylish maternity clothes during your pregnancies (who doesn't?!), and then flattering and comfy feeding clothes soon after, then you are going to LOVE the SRC Essentials range.

You might recall that I was fortune enough to have received a few pieces from the range to take to the hospital with me last year (you can read that post here). Since having Mr T (and wearing everything I received to death) I have also been trying out new pieces from their Spring/Summer range and loving them!

Now you may have gathered that I am a bit of a dress gal', so I have to say that the feeding dresses were top of my wish list from the range. The short sleeve feeding dress has been an absolute saviour during this hot weather - yes we have actually had a Summer for once here in Melbourne!

The dress is super stylish and comfortable to boot. I love how versatile it is - dress up with a pair of wedges (because I cannot quite get back in to heels) or down with flats or flip flops for the grocery run. The colours are divine in this little number, but if blue is more your thing - you can get it in this print too.

The dress retails for $69.95 and you can view or purchase online here

The feeding dress also comes in a 3/4 sleeve design - a perfect transeasonal number. I love how effortless these dresses are, pop on and you feel 'done'.

This one I wore under my denim jacket or SRC Essentials Waterfall Cardi during the cooler Spring days. Again so easy to dress up or down with different footwear or jewels, and perfect for everywhere from beach to bar (if you remember what one of those looks like!).

The coral colour is divine, but if a basic black or a classic black and white stripe is more you - you are in luck!

This dress retails also for $69.95 and you can view or purchase online here.

A flattering, breastfeeding tee is worth its' weight in gold! Wear with shorts, (stretchy) skirt, cuffed denim jeans or with your leggings to hit the gym - this tee is a must have.

I love the longer line, especially post pregnancy with your new 'curves'!
Also available in the coral stripe and classic black - I suggest one in each colour - seriously!

The tee retails for $59.95 and you can view or purchase here.

The essentials range, unlike most maternity pieces, has been designed with postnatal needs also in mind. So not only will you get to wear these with a bump, but you'll look equally as fabulous (and comfy) post bub when breastfeeding too.

Now I am definitely no model (as you can tell) and these pictures have been taken 4 months post baby #3, after having 3 kiddies in 3.5 years, after a c section and with quite a bit of post baby weight still on! But even still you can see that the pieces are not clingy and that the fabric hangs well and seriously the cotton is so soft and comfy.

Reader Offer & Discount Code

Now for the good news... SRC has so kindly offered my readers the chance to purchase anything from the Essentials range with a 15% discount! I know, that is amazing huh? That means that at these prices, you can afford to get both feeding dresses :-)

To take advantage of this offer, simply enter the code ESSENTIALS at the checkout. Please note that this offer is valid until 31 March 2016.

And at the same time, if you are in need of some SRC Recovery shorts (my absolute MUST have for the hospital bag), you can take advantage of an exclusive offer to buy one pair and receive 25% off the second pair. Post pregnancy you will live in these, so two pairs is a fabulous idea. Or if you have a friend or family member also expecting, why not share the discount between you?!

To take advantage of this offer simple enter the code BUNDLE at the checkout. This offer is also valid until 31 March 2016, so don't miss out!

And for those of you that would like to win a piece, stay tuned as I will be giving you the chance to make an item from the Essentials range all yours later on this week.

Super Cute Food Ideas & Treats for Australia Day!

What better excuse to treat yourself than for Australia Day?! Well it is a long time between Christmas and Easter after all...

Today I have a little bit of a round up of what I am attempting to make wrestle with the kids to celebrate the day of all things Aussie. Yes I did just post about being better with my sweet treats this year, but it is Australia Day after all - enough said!

The Tim Tam Cake

The only thing better than a Tim Tam, has to be this cake right?! I saw this doing the rounds last year on social media and knew I had to attempt it this year.

Koala Biscuits

You are only one pack of milk arrowroot bickies (and a few other ingredients) away from a whole lot of cute!

Koala in the Ocean

My super clever friend Kate (from Confetti Mumma) makes these for her Australia Day BBQ year after year and I can see why! Kids (and adults alike) will adore the Aussie twist on the uber popular 'frog in the pond'.

The Pav

It is definitely un-Australian not to inhale a pavlova on the 26th of January! Everyone knows the best 'pav' recipe, but I think that this recipe from That's Life magazine gets top marks for creativity - though admittedly I like mine with a lot more chocolate and a little less fruit :-) This recipe uses Pavlova magic to make things a cinch too!!

Happy New Year! What I hope for 2016...

Happy New Year everyone!

I truly hope that you all enjoyed a safe and happy festive season. Hard to believe that here we are already in to the second week of 2016 isn't it?!

2015 was definitely a bit of a rollercoaster ride for me. Sadly the week after Mr T arrived, my father suffered a stroke. It has been incredibly tough period and we are only now really embarking on a super slow (often frustrating) and long recovery process for him. So if posts have been a bit few and far between here, the juggling act of the three kiddlets and my dad has left me a little bit time poor as of late. I really hope that this year sees great improvements for my father and more balance for me.

2015 also saw some happy tears too! There is no better highlight in any year than welcoming a new baby and Mr T was certainly no exception. He really is the 'dream' baby - so content, happy and just SO easy!

I know that it won't be like this forever (and the other two certainly aren't easy most days!), but he is just such a little blessing and gives me something positive to focus on when things are a little tough.

So what's ahead in 2016?! Well each year I do try and put down a few resolutions and goals for the year. So here is what I am hoping for....

Balance

Easier said than done with three little ones! But this year I hope to regain a bit of me time.

Late last year I signed up at a gym and look forward to escaping here for a bit of mind and body wellbeing a few times a week!

I also want to try and pick up a book every now and then and watch something on TV other than ABC Kids every once and a while too. I know, dreaming BIG here!!

Health

If 2015 taught me anything, it is definitely to not take your health for granted. This year I am trying to focus on being the healthiest that I an be, especially after such sick pregnancies. Now I am not doing anything too crazy like quitting sugar entirely, but I do plan to be a bit more mindful of what I put in to my mouth! I am actually fairly good with the exercise side of things, but sweet treats can often be my undoing. Be prepared to see some more 'healthy' sweet treat recipes coming through on the blog this year (and some naughty ones too).

I also want to finally get a few 'health' related things ticked off this year. My varicose veins (thanks a lot pregnancies!) are on my list as well as finally getting my teeth fixed (again courtesy of babies). Not very exciting, but it will be nice to feel and look a bit better after my close pregnancies have left me looking a wee bit worse for wear!!

Family

Even though I have my three home with me full time, I often feel like the time we do spent together isn't 'quality'. I have to learn to put the phone down, switch the computer off and learn to keep that pile of dishes at the sink a teeny bit longer. Next year Mr B will be at school and before I know it, my babies will be having babies of their own. I know the time is going to fly, so I intend to try and maximise the time I have at home with my three before it goes forever.

The Blog

Late last year I made the super hard (and sad) decision to say goodbye to my Event Hire and Styling business due to just how crazy things were with our expanding family and the needs of my parents. This year I hope that I can focus a bit more on my blog as a result. So please if you have any requests on what you'd like to see around these parts, as always please contact me because I love hearing from you - truly!

My posts here can often be few and far between, but if you are on Instagram or Facebook I can be found sharing (usually bargain buys or anything Kmart related) on a more frequent basis so I would love you to join me here!

If you are a brand, product or service that would like to work with me this year, I would love to hear from you and please feel free to contact me for more information.

Looking forward to a great year ahead and I thank each and every one of you that take the time to check in here for being a part of it!!

Do you set resolutions? What are yours for 2016?
