And so the weening fun continues at our place...
I have been sent by the good folks at Soup Social some Nestle Cerelac Infant Cereal to try out (in Wheat and Oats and Prune) that are suitable for 6 months plus. I am a little bit in denial about having a 6 month old baby, but hey I will push on!
I tried Miss C out on both variants and I have to say that the Oats and Prune was a clear favourite in the taste stakes, the Wheat not so much!!
The funny thing about this little lady, is that she really wants to eat what everyone else is eating. So I have been mixing in what I have for brekkie (yoghurt and small pieces of fruit) in to the mix and she adores it.
Like with the Rice Cereal I started Miss C out on, this is super easy and quick to prepare, mixes up very smooth and seems to be great for the digestion side of things. I will say that Miss C loves her chunks and lumps, which is very different to my experience with Mr B, who loved all things smooth and silky.
I would love to hear from any of you that have tried baby led weaning, as it is just so far removed from what I did with Mr B. But Miss C seems intent on grabbing and trying to eat everything I pop in to my mouth - I have drawn the line my block of Top Deck Chocolate don't you worry!! But in all seriousness, she wants to share whatever the family meal of the day is, so I need some new meal ideas!

Home made cauliflower pizza is our favourite family meal. Its full of healthy ingredients and kids are happy to help in the kitchen if it is pizza day..
ReplyDeleteOur favourite meal seems to be anything with chicken. Chicken & vegetable pie especially.
ReplyDeleteAussie style Vietnamese cold rolls because I just put all the ingredients in the middle of the table and everyone builds their own the way they like them.
ReplyDeleteThai green curry chicken
ReplyDeleteTastes a lot like heaven
With the perfect amount of spice
It's best eaten with hot steamy rice
Sticky BBQ pork ribs! Best ever.
ReplyDeleteHaving family of fussy eaters anything they actually all eat is a favourite with me. Roast lamb with roast vegies and home made pizzas are always very poplar.
ReplyDeleteOh for us it's Pork Loin Roast with vegetables as it's easy to cook & everybody devours it!
ReplyDeleteIn this cold weather, we love a slow cooked corned beef, with cauliflower mash and steamed peas, carrot and broccoli. Such an easy meal for a busy family and I make sure to get a large enough piece of beef that there's enough for leftovers because it's so popular!
ReplyDeleteButter chicken, rich and delicious and loved by all
ReplyDeleteI love cooking for my family, but the favourite meal I love to cook for them is the one I serve up and the kids say "Mummy we love this, it's our favourite!" It's the best feeling ever.
ReplyDeleteCheers Sharon Fawcett.
Certainly not fancy but one meal that always cleans off plates in our house is curry sausages. I add in vegetables and use the mini pork sausages left whole (always have some on standby in freezer). In our house it is served with rice, pasta or mash depending on what I have on hand. Bonus is it uses one pan and takes about 15 minutes. Quicker and cheaper than takeaway and loves by fussy hubby and all the kids
ReplyDeleteI love making Bacon and Asparagus Risotto... yummmmmm. It's the one thing my kids always want second helpings of.
ReplyDeleteIn this cooler weather I have been making big pots of soup (usually vegetables) and chicken sausage rolls (filled with loads of vegetables zucchini, carrot, peas and corn). I usually make big batches and freeze for another busy night. My older children are beginning to help in the cooking process too, which means they are more likely to eat their food! I usually follow this with fruit from the market gardens - strawberries being our favourite. My theory is more vitamins and minerals in little ones means less coughs and colds.
ReplyDeletesomething easy and healthy, love seafood and salad, or a wholesome meal like soup or something like chicken kiev and veg <3
ReplyDeleteWe love "Sneaky Burgers". I whizz up a whole heap of spinach onion and garlic until it's smooth, (my kids refuse to eat anything with "bits" in it", finely grate a carrot, then add lean mince, no added salt tomato paste, an egg and some porridge/oatmeal flakes. Make into patties, brown in a pan and then whack them in the oven to cook through. We have them as proper burgers on buns or with a plate of nice veggies :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite winter meal is hot Lentil Soup with mixed vegetables and chicken soup blended in it.
ReplyDeleteBy Nick S.
Wraps, so easy to chop and slice everything ahead of time. Once everything is laid out, the kids make their own, and the golden rule is it has to have atleast three vegetables.
ReplyDeleteTacos
ReplyDeleteNothing warms the hearts and mouths of the family like my duck ragu tortellini! Every time it's dished up, it still gets an eyes closed, "mmm" reaction from every member!
ReplyDeleteBraised lamb shanks in red wine & garlic, with creamy mashed potatoes and broccoli!
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be a BBQ! My husband marinades the meat in his secret recipe that has been passed down from his dad. The flavours are delicious. Being from a Greek background, he uses lots of garlic, lemon, oregano, salt and olive oil. I whip up some beautiful salads (fresh beetroot salad, herbed rice salad, and potato, parsley and onion salad are all faves).
ReplyDeleteTacos... there's always a fun fiesta vibe when we lay out all the stuffings and everyone gets to make their own dinner! It's messy but it's fun!
ReplyDeleteApricot Chicken with potato mash, steamed zucchini and baked chokos with butter. Before i met my hubby, i had never eaten apricot chicken or chokos, now, this is our "family meal", it reminds hubby of his late nan, so i love cooking it for him!! Antonella (antonc1981@hotmail.com)
ReplyDeleteMac and cheese, with chopped up ham, is our family favourite, served with lots of fresh salad and hot crusty bread rolls.
ReplyDeleteSpaghetti Bolognaise!
ReplyDeleteBreakfast for dinner - sausages, tomatoes, eggs, mushrooms and pancakes for dessert - makes them all happy LOL!!
ReplyDeleteORTS AND SORTS 'QUICHE'!
ReplyDeleteMy crustless pie that includes all food groups, uses many vegetables - fresh or left-over - and is very adaptable. It makes a healthy all-in-one meal that all the family enjoys, especially the cook... most preparation is straight through the food processor's grater. Just add garlic bread!
We all love roast lamb with all the trimmings
ReplyDeleteLasagne
ReplyDeleteSpaghetti Bog. You can hide all sorts of vegies in it, and it's delicious!
ReplyDeleteHome cooked Chicken Parmagana with Scolloped Potatoes yum
ReplyDeleteMy family always say that they think we must have Italian blood, as they would like to have spaghetti bolognaise one night, pizza the next night, and then repeat throughout the weeks and months!
ReplyDeleteWe love soups lately. Particularly pumpkin soup and Asian chicken soups :)
ReplyDeleteWe love Mexican lasagne in our house - something everyone will enjoy, even the fussy toddler!
ReplyDeleteCorn and zucchini fritters with spinach leaves, diced tomato and streaky bacon on top. Loved by all and the little kids can hold their fritters easily.
ReplyDeleteWe both loves healthy and dishes that warms you up in our cold winter months - we enjoy making home made soups and dishes on the weekends and freeze for meals during the working week :)
