Treasures Nappies Review and Giveaway

If I could pick one word to describe my reaction to trialling the newest nappies to hit the market - Treasures Nappies - it would be nervous... You see I am a Huggies type of Mum, through and through. I have tried nearly every single brand on the market and the results are always the same - a messy disaster!

Never heard of Treasures Nappies? These nappies are the newbies in the Australian nappy scene, but have been a leading brand wrapped around babies bottoms in New Zealand for over 30 years - so that says something! In Australia you will find them at IGA stores.

Now that I have two in nappies, not only am I dead poor (why are nappies so expensive?!), I just don't have the time or the patience to mess around with brands that just don't work. Most days I feel like I am chained to that darn change table, so I don't want to make things any harder than they need to be with nappies that don't work.

At 3 months old, I also have Miss C in a brilliant routine with her sleep (touch wood!) and we all know that a leaking nappy = grouchy Mum with a baby that wakes up overnight!

So how did they compare?

Well I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at how absorbent these nappies actually were.

The nappy is light and has a great design with plenty of elastic around the waist area and no gapping in the wrong spots like some other brands out there that I have tried.

These were comfy for both toddler and newborn alike and did not cause any irritation on the precious newborn skin of Miss C.

The design of the nappies is Hairy Maclary (super cute!) which Mr B loved, as he is an avid lover of the book series.

The outside of the nappy feels a bit more papery than Huggies, but this doesn't seem to affect the effectiveness in the least.

The big test was overnight and I was so pleased that when I woke up, no leaks, no wet bed and no disturbed sleep - winner in my books!!

Price wise at around $9.95 a pop, they are much friendlier on the wallet than the other 'big' brand out there. It is nice to actually make a saving on the grocery bill each week with a product that works.

Want to Try?!

Now for the exciting part - for one lucky Utterly Organised reader (Australia only), I have the chance to try these out for yourself. Treasures have kindly given me a super generous prize pack of 8 packs of nappies (in your choice of size) worth $74.00 to one very lucky reader. Gee imagine how nice your shopping bill would look for a change if you won!

  1. My tip would be... sleep in complete darkness! The body goes into a deeper sleep. If you leave a night light on, the body reads it as morning time. #SleepingTreasures

  2. My tip is that little ones should be tired and they must eat proper dinner for a good night sleep where they sleep throughout the night. I take mine to the playground in the evening and let him play to his heart’s content , then make sure he eats properly at dinner. There should be a proper bedtime routine of bath, story time, cuddles and rhymes and when the child is satisfied, happy and tired – he definitely sleeps throughout the night. #SleepingTreasures

  3. Using pixie dust is my personal favourite for ensuring children sleep through the night. I wish!!

I do think you just have to be lucky, every child is so different, but you can help things along with calm before bed, little ones clean & dry and a full tum.

I like to have a routine. Bath, bottle, book then bed seem to do the trick most of the time!

  6. I find heavy blankets help - not in summer of course, but on cold nights heavy blankets are really comforting.

  8. I got my #SleepingTreasures to go to sleep by just making sure that when they wake at night that everything is quiet and dark as possible, but not so compfortable that they want to stay up and play!

  10. I like to keep to a routine when possible, so the kids know when bedtime is. A bath before bed with a few drops of lavender oil seems to work well to relax them. I also like fitted sleeping bags in the cooler weather, because they avoid kids waking up uncovered and crying in the middle of the night. But my toddler already hates the dark, too. I found a great product called 'Moon In My Room', which is a moon night-light that you hang on the wall. I now have one in each of my four kids' rooms. It changes the phases of the moon(crescent, whole, etc)and is lovely(and sleep-inducing!)to watch. It adds a very gentle light which does not seem to keep kids awake longer, but does seem to reassure them and also makes it easier to see just enough to be able to check on them sneakily, without having to turn on a lamp. #Sleeping Treasures

  12. Routine absolutely helps but my tip most importantly was not stressing or comparing my bub with my friends bubs that were sleeping through. Our little man was hungry and kept waking up at 2am for a feed, once he got to eight months I knew it was time I had to teach him that he didn't need to wake for this feed, although it was really tough hearing him protest it only took 4 nights (I say 'only' now but it seemed like forever at the time) before he started sleeping soundly through and still does three months later. My tip is trust your mother instinct to know what is right for you and your bub, I couldn't let him cry it out cold turkey but worked with Tresillian to find a way to get him to sleep through and drop that feed that made me feel comfortable. Not all babies or mums are the same you have to find methods that work for you. #SleepingTreasures

  13. A warm bath before going to bed and keep surrounding as quiet as possible. Give your kids a comforter such as a Teddy bear to let them not feel alone while sleeping. #SleepingTreasures

  14. I think it starts young. Don't jump up to them for every little call out and cry when they are newborns. I made that mistake with number two. I had baby sharing a room with Mum and I didn't want him to wake her up so I'd go in at every sound. He got used to me being there at every sleep cycle and woke 10 times a night or more until he was 18 months. I mistake I didn't make with number 1 or 3 baby. #SleepingTreasures

  15. Some may not agree, but it works for me, I co-sleep with my boy, he's such a joy and sleeps the whole night through, he stays warm and snuggly and knows mummy is right there beside him.

  16. I learnt the hard way... don't pick your baby up as soon as they cry. Sometimes they are actually still asleep. #SleepingTreasures

  18. There is nothing worse than a sleepless night so after stressing trying several different things
I find if you use a Lavender oil rub on bubs back & feet & gently massage their temples it works a charm #SleepingTreasures

  23. My little one always put up such a fight,
To go to sleep each and every night.
We played music and let him cry,
And checked his nappy- it was dry!
He cried, screamed and yes, did shout.
It took a LONG time for me to work it out.
He needed to feel quite cool or he'd wake,
Keeping him too warm was our mistake.
So my tip is to do what works for you,
Trust your intuition through and through.

  24. The fact is that it is difficult to say which one is better than the other. Both types of nappies have their distinct advantages and uses.
