{Post in conjunction with Jason Agustina}
Every year right about this time, I get the urge to give my home a little makeover ready for Summer and the entertaining and festive season. While I would love to go all out and deck out the house with fresh paint, furniture and linen, unfortunately the budget doesn't quite stretch! Today I have put together a few of the tips and tricks I have used over the years to decorate and update the home on a budget.
1. Paint
Without a doubt painting a room is one of the cheapest ways (maybe not easiest!) to change a space with very little cost. I am a sucker for bright, fresh, neutral coloured walls and we have most of our house painted in Dulux Whisper White.

I also find that by painting most of the home white, I can easily and affordably inject colour around the place through soft furnishings. Then when I get bored of a colour, I simply replace these instead of having to paint and update a whole room down the track.
2. Paper, Paint or Stick
If you don't have the time, money or patience to paint a room then why not consider a few easier and cheaper options instead?
Think Small: Why not tackle a piece of furniture instead? Painting an old dresser, hall table or chest of draws can make such a huge impact in a room.

I have been stalking opp shops and garage sales to something similar in our entrance at our place - how stunning is this?!
Wallpaper: Doesn't have to be an entire room folks! A feature wall or even just a bookshelf in a room can give stunning results.

Opt for the self adhesive options to really make this job a breeze!
Wall Decals: My absolute favourite way to inject a bit of personality in to a space has to be wall stickers.
This is Miss C's bedroom which has polka dots (of course!), but you'll also see decals in my home office and family room - cannot get enough!
Wall decals are also a renters dream as they are formulated to be removed without leaving a trace or sacrificing your bond.

3. Update Accessories
Bathroom looking tired? Try some gorgeous bright bath towels and accessories.

We love the Adairs Flinders towel range in Peppermint, but they have so many other gorgeous bright colours to boot and are often 40-50% off.
Lounge looking daggy? Invest in some new season cushions from Target or Kmart.

These options are both Target and both $15 - cannot complain about that price tag!
4. Designer look, not price
Love the designer look in your home, but without the designer price? Then don't be afraid to shop online instead of in stores because you can save yourself a pretty penny! Jason Agustina has the most amazing range of designer furniture at a mere fraction of the cost you'd expect to pay in a retail store.
Sometimes it can be just one signature item - a sofa, an armchair or sideboard - that can really transform the look and feel of your home.

If you're still unsure about the benefits of online shopping (hey no kids!!), Jason Agustina also offer a 30 day money back guarantee, so if it isn't right - return!
5. One Mans Trash...
I have picked up the most amazing artwork and furnishings from Gumtree and my local Facebook Buy, Swap and Sell pages. If you haven't joined these pages, you really are missing out! You have been warned that these pages can be addictive!
These sites and pages are also a great way to sell on your unwanted furniture or furnishings to raise money for your new!
Do you have some tips on updating your home on a budget? Love to hear them!
